PRE-SCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

(Ages 3-13)

The Pre-School and Elementary classes of our educational program build a basic foundation of academic, social, self-help, and prevocational skills.  At this level the emphasis is on multiple strategies and techniques to encourage independence in areas such as dressing, toileting, feeding, appropriate play, behavior management, and social / emotional growth and development.

Following the Core Curriculum Content Standards of NJ, while looking forward to the Common Core State Standards,  the academic focus for these classes is a progression from readiness skills into functional academics.  To prepare for pre-vocational and community-based work within our High School setting, fine motor and gross motor skills are developed.  Each student is encouraged to function within the parameters of their own individual abilities.

The Pre-School and Elementary program includes acquisition of skills in the following areas:

  • Math
  • Language
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Play/Social Skills
